President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has thrown his support behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates for the 2024 general elections.
The endorsement followed the formal ratification by the NPP’s National Council on Thursday, July 4, of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. President Akufo-Addo expressed strong confidence in the duo, calling them an “excellent pairing” that is well-positioned to secure the party’s victory.
“The NPP has an excellent ticket, and we’re going to win with this ticket on December 7, 2024; that’s the news,” President Akufo-Addo declared to journalists after the confirmation. He emphasized their complementary strengths and leadership capabilities, which he believes will lead the party to a decisive victory in the forthcoming elections.
This endorsement highlights a unified stance within the NPP as they gear up for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral contest in Ghana.
