Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan and his team visited the National Sports Authority (NSA) at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 12, 2024. They extended a formal invitation to the NSA leadership for the launch of an upcoming event scheduled for June 8, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. This event marks the beginning of competitions in various sports disciplines across all sixteen administrative regions of Ghana.
During the visit, NSA Board Chairman Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo applauded the initiative, noting its alignment with the NSA’s core mandate. He emphasized the Authority’s full support for the event. NSA Director General Hon. Dodzie Numekevor echoed these sentiments, pledging the Authority’s commitment to providing facilities, technical support for officiating, and sporting equipment for the competitions. He also granted permission for the event organizers to use the NSA’s official logo in their promotional materials.
In addition to Asamoah Gyan, the delegation included NSA Deputy Director General Mr. Majeed Bawa, former Ghanaian national soccer star Bafuor Gyan, and other members of the Regional Games Team. The NSA officials expressed their enthusiasm for the event and assured the delegation of their full cooperation and support. They also commended Asamoah Gyan for his efforts to promote sports development in Ghana.
