The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has praised the Buz Stop Boys, a group of young men, for their initiative in cleaning drains and gutters in cities and towns across Ghana.
The Buz Stop Boys are voluntarily desilting choked drains and gutters to prevent flooding during the rainy season. During a meeting at his office last Wednesday, Mr. Asenso-Boakye donated GH¢10,000 to the group’s leadership to encourage them to continue their efforts for the country.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye, who was formerly the Minister of Works and Housing and is now the Minister for Roads, acknowledged the impact of the group’s work on infrastructure development. He highlighted the importance of clean drains in preventing flooding, which can lead to property damage and loss of life.
The minister emphasized that development is a shared responsibility between the government and citizens. He called for a change in mindset among Ghanaians, noting that everyone must play their part in shaping the country’s development.
The leader and founder of the Buz Stop Boys, Ohene Kwadwo Sarfo, expressed gratitude to the minister for his support. He urged Ghanaians to stop dumping waste into drains and gutters to help prevent flooding, noting that the group’s goal is to keep urban areas clean and prevent flooding during the rainy season.
