According to SPORT, Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko is set to spark quite the transfer war with as many as six European heavyweights, including Barcelona, vying to sign him on a free transfer in the summer
The 17-year-old striker is enjoying a red-hot streak for Dortmund this season, with six goals and four assists from just 14 Bundesliga matches. His form, coupled with his contract situation, has attracted the interest of a host of top clubs from across Europe.
Barcelona are keen on recruiting an understudy for ace goalscorer Robert Lewandowski and see Moukoko as an excellent choice due to his age, potential and availability on a free transfer, with his current deal at Dortmund expiring at the end of the season.
However, they will face serious competition from five other top teams as per the aforementioned report. Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all said to be interested in Moukoko, while Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix.
Chelsea, as per the report, are not convinced by former Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are keen on adding another option up top, leading to their interest in Moukoko.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils need to replace the misfiring Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag has always shown tremendous faith in youth talent.
Manchester City, meanwhile, want to add another striker despite signing Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez and see Moukoko as an excellent understudy for the Norwegian international.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are said to be looking for a new centre-forward next summer at the request of Jurgen Klopp. The German’s connections with Dortmund could help the Reds in their pursuit of Moukoko.
As for PSG, they want to continue building a star-studded team and want to sign the player who is in high demand in Europe.
Moukoko, for his part, has held off on signing a new contract with Dortmund and is said to be seeking a â¬7 million per year deal.
Whether Barcelona are willing to meet those demands will be key to their chances of signing the 17-year-old, considering that the rest of the teams after him can easily offer him that package.
