Karlsruher defender Stephan Ambrosius' World Cup dreams have been shattered after picking up an injury during his side's Bundesliga II game against Holstein Kiel.
Despite playing the entire duration of the 4-1 defeat to Kiel, the German-born centre-back felt pains as he walked off the pitch.
Ambrosius confirmed he will miss the upcoming games and most importantly the World Cup in Qatar on his social media pages.

The former Germany U21 announced his decision to represent Ghana in June and was part of the Black Stars squad for the friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua last month.
The injury means Otto Addo's provisional squad has been reduced to a 54-man team before the final squad is announced.
Ambrosius joined Karlsruher in the summer transfer window from Hamburger SV on a season-long loan.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars have lined up a friendly against Switzerland on November 17, 2022, three days to the start of the Mundial.
Ghana have been drawn in Group H alongside 2016 European champions Portugal, inaugural World Cup winner Uruguay and South Korea.
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Germany youth international, Stephan Ambrosius, has sealed a move to Karlsruher in the summer transfer window.
