Boise State (2-1) dropped its season opener at <a class="Annotation-link" href="https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/OREGST/oregon-state-beavers/">Oregon State</a> but went on to record a 31-14 triumph at <a class="Annotation-link" href="https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/NMEX/new-mexico-lobos/">New Mexico</a> and defeat <a class="Annotation-link" href="https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/TNMART/ut-martin-skyhawks/">UT Martin</a> 30-7 at home last Saturday. The Broncos are 6-0 all-time against the Miners, who have been outscored 290-108 in the series. UTEP (1-3) is coming off a 27-10 road loss against the Lobos. The Broncos' defense has been strong against the run of late, limiting New Mexico and UT Martin to a combined total of 51 rushing yards after giving up 178 against Oregon State in their season opener.<br>The Miners struggled against the run in Saturday's setback, allowing the Lobos to gain 188 yards on the ground, but defended the pass well. UTEP limited New Mexico to 111 yards through the air and did not allow a passing touchdown. It also got to Lobos quarterback <a class="Annotation-link" href="/college-football/players/2963174/miles-kendrick/">Miles Kendrick</a> twice, with <a class="Annotation-link" href="/college-football/players/2965439/cal-wallerstedt/">Cal Wallerstedt</a> registering both sacks.<br>The redshirt junior linebacker leads the Miners with three sacks on the season, which also are the first three of his career. Wallerstedt is first in Conference USA with 5.5 tackles for loss, which place him 13th in the nation.
