Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu has urged members of the Regional Peace
Council to work more closely with security agencies and other government institutions to ensure
the region’s long-term peace.According to him, the region’s enviable record of peace had been
jeopardized by the occurrence of communal and chieftaincy conflicts, particularly the Bawku
and Doba-Kandiga conflicts, which had resulted in the loss of lives and property, and the
experience in managing them had not been easy at all.
As a result, he is appealing to the feuding factions in these communities to lay down their arms
and allow peace to reign in order to propel the region’s growth and development for the benefit
of the people.
