Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro, known for his outspoken support for Palestinians, has shared video footage of a large concert held in Bolivar Square, Bogota, aimed at raising awareness and calling for an end to what he describes as the genocide in Palestine.
President Petro took to social media to share aerial footage of the event, stating, “This is the concert of hope and against genocide in Palestine.” The concert, held on Friday night, featured musicians from Colombia and several other countries, including Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, and Panama.
The outdoor concert in the historic Bolivar Square was marked by the display of a giant Palestinian flag with the words “Stop the Genocide” written in Spanish, draped over a building overlooking the venue. The event aimed to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people and protest against the ongoing violence in Gaza.
Petro’s support for Palestinians has previously led to public disputes with Israel, reflecting his strong stance on international human rights issues. The concert in Bogota symbolizes a significant cultural and political statement, bringing together artists and activists from across Latin America in a unified call for peace and justice in Palestine.
