“Fatal Clash Between Youth and Navy at Tema Manhean Leaves Two Dead”

Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a clash between local youth and navy personnel at Tema Manhean in the Greater Accra Region. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2024.

The clash reportedly began when youth participating in this year’s Kplejoo festival engaged in a street procession. Upon reaching the street in front of the Eastern Naval Command, a dispute arose between the youth and navy ratings on duty. During the altercation, a navy vehicle was allegedly vandalized by some individuals in the crowd.

The confrontation escalated, leading to a violent altercation between the youth and navy personnel, resulting in the death of two individuals from gunshot wounds. The deceased have been transported to the Tema General Hospital Mortuary, while two others who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The situation remains tense, and authorities are working to restore calm and investigate the incident. More details will be provided as they become available.

The clash highlights the need for effective communication and conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future. It also underscores the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between communities and security forces.
