A fight broke out between lawmakers in Ghana’s parliament on December 20, during a debate over a proposed tax on electronic transactions. Footage streamed live shows a crowd of politicians fighting on the floor of parliament. According to Ghanian radio station Peace FM, the fight broke out when first deputy speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu attempted to cast a vote on the bill. Majority leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said he was “sad, ashamed and embarrassed to be called the leader of the house,” following the brawl, Peace FM reported.
