Former Ejisu MP to Run as Independent in Upcoming By-Election

Former Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has declared his intention to contest the upcoming by-election as an independent candidate. His announcement comes on the eve of the New Patriotic Party’s primary to select a candidate for the by-election. A press release from Aduomi’s camp cites the failure of party executives to address crucial concerns with the voter album as the reason for his decision to break away from the NPP.

The press release also alleges irregularities in the election process for polling station executives, claiming that the late MP, with the assistance of regional party executives, handpicked individuals for key positions. This move is seen as a departure from democratic principles and has sparked protests from party members and stakeholders. The issue has even reached the courts for adjudication, highlighting its seriousness.

choosing to run as an independent candidate, Aduomi is taking a stand against what he perceives as party irregularities and a disregard for democratic processes within the NPP. His decision underscores his commitment to upholding democratic values and ensuring transparency and accountability within the party. Aduomi’s candidacy serves as a symbol of his unwavering dedication to democratic principles and his willingness to challenge the status quo in pursuit of fairness and justice.
