Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), J.Y.A Kwofie, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, according to sources from Adom News. Mr. Kwofie, who was over 90 years old, had been battling illness for several years, including dementia. He served as IGP from January 1, 1990, to September 30, 1996. Following his tenure, he was succeeded by Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri, who also passed away in February 2023. Mr. Nanfuri held the title of Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area as Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II.
The passing of both former IGPs marks a somber moment, reflecting on their contributions to law enforcement and traditional leadership. Their legacies are remembered not only for their professional achievements but also for their personal attributes.
