Mr. Kwofie, who was over 90 years old, had been battling illness for several years, including dementia. He served as IGP from January 1, 1990, to September 30, 1996. Following his tenure, he was succeeded by Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri, who also passed away in February 2023. Mr. Nanfuri held the title of Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area as Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II.
