Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Ghana and Morocco have entered into a visa-free travel arrangement.
In a post shared on Facebook on Friday, June 6, Mr. Ablakwa stated that the new policy allows Ghanaian citizens to travel to Morocco without applying for a traditional visa. Instead, travelers can now secure online authorization within 24 hours, eliminating the need for embassy visits.
“Effective immediately, Ghanaians can visit Morocco without a conventional visa. Travel authorization will now be processed online in less than a day—no embassy appointment required. This is a key outcome of my discussions with Moroccan Foreign Minister H.E. Nasser Bourita during my two-day official visit,” he noted.
He further explained that the current availability of direct flights between the two nations will be expanded as a result of the new agreement. He expressed confidence that the visa waiver would significantly enhance trade, tourism, and interpersonal relations between the countries.
Ablakwa also emphasized the importance of unity across the African continent, stating that national borders should not separate people who are essentially one.
“Diplomacy should deliver real benefits to our citizens. I also take this moment to extend my warm wishes for a joyful Eid to all our Muslim brothers and sisters,” he concluded.
