Ghana Draws World and Olympic Champions in Heat 1 at Bahamas World Relays

Ghana’s men’s 4×100m relay team faces tough competition at the Bahamas World Athletics Relays, being paired with powerhouse teams like the USA and Italy in Heat 1. Led by standout athletes Joseph Paul Amoah and Benjamin Azamati, the team is gearing up for a challenging race.

Joseph Paul Amoah, who clinched the Gold Medal at the African Games 2023, and Benjamin Azamati, the record holder for the nation’s 100m dash, bring speed and experience to the team. They are joined by promising talents Ibrahim Fuseini and Isaac Botsio, adding depth to Ghana’s relay squad.

The competition in Heat 1 is fierce, with the USA boasting world champions like Noah Kyle’s and Italy relying on Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs. Despite facing such strong opponents, Ghana’s team is determined to secure a top-two finish to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games.

Ghana’s relay team has shown promise in recent competitions, setting a national record of 38.07s at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. However, they have faced challenges in improving upon this record, clocking 38.43s at the African Games 2023 and 39.59s at the Penn Relays in May 2024.

The team’s performance at the Bahamas World Athletics Relays will be crucial, as they aim to not only compete against the best in the world but also secure their spot at the Paris Olympic Games. With strong competitors in their heat, Ghana’s relay team will need to deliver a top-notch performance to achieve their goal.
