President Akufo-Addo has directed an audit into the SML/GRA contract, suspending its performance. The audit, conducted by KPMG, aims to assess the contract’s rationale, contracting methodology, alignment with needs, and value offered to the GRA. The President tasked KPMG to complete the assignment in two weeks and submit recommendations. The Ministry of Finance and GRA are to provide assistance, and the contract performance is suspended pending the audit report. The move follows media reports on the contract’s alleged questionable nature. Opposition figures, like Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, view the audit as coming “too late.”
