Government Unveils Ambitious Dualization Plan for Kasoa-Winneba and Adentan-Dodowa Roads

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, has revealed plans for the dualization of two crucial roads connecting the national capital, Accra. The identified roads are the Kasoa-Winneba Junction and Adentan-Dodowa routes. The primary aim of this initiative is to alleviate traffic congestion on these vital corridors and enhance the overall travel experience for commuters.

During a recent visit to project sites at Gomoa Buduburam near Kasoa and Frafraha near Adentan, the minister shared that the dualization project includes the construction of four flyovers and interchanges at key points along the Kasoa-Winneba stretch. These strategic locations include Sapato, Buduburam, Akoti junction, and the Winneba Roundabout.

The appointed contractors for these projects, NAG Fairmount Company Ltd and Oswal Investments Limited, are in the process of mobilizing resources for full-scale groundwork, scheduled to commence on January 1 of the coming year. The construction timeline for the 30-kilometer Kasoa-Winneba stretch is set at 30 months, while the 23-kilometer Adentan-Dodowa road project is expected to be completed within two years.

Mr. Amoako-Attah emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the urgent need for improved road infrastructure, considering the daily inconveniences faced by the public, especially during weekends. He reassured the public that the projects would incorporate service lanes and slip roads, contributing to a significant enhancement of the road network.

The minister’s visit underscored the government’s proactive approach to tackle road challenges and bottlenecks, following widespread public complaints. He highlighted that the years 2020 and 2021 were declared as the “Years of Roads” by the President, reflecting the administration’s dedication to road development.

At Frafraha, Mr. Amoako-Attah expressed government support for the contractors and urged them to deliver the projects within record time, emphasizing the trust and confidence placed in their capabilities.
