Ghanaian Highlife icon Dada Kwaku Duah, widely known as Dada KD, has passed away at the age of 56, his family has confirmed. His death comes just days before he was set to perform in London.
Family members revealed that the veteran musician died on Friday, May 16, 2025, after experiencing mild illness earlier in the week.
The news of his passing has deeply affected the Ghanaian music community, prompting an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow musicians alike.
Dada KD was widely celebrated as a key figure in modern Highlife music, known for a string of hit songs including “Tekyere Ma,” “Honey Love,” and the classic “Fatia Fata Nkrumah,” which still enjoys regular airplay.
His soulful compositions and emotionally rich lyrics resonated with many, often capturing the complexities of love and life in Ghanaian society.
Over his career, which spanned more than 30 years, Dada KD released nine albums, featuring popular tracks like Somugye, Ebeboawo, Obiara Se Aye, and Odo Mu Anigyebi.
His contributions to Ghanaian music were widely recognized, including winning the Best Male Vocalist award at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK.
