Former Tamale Central MP, Inusah Fuseini, has issued an unreserved apology to the Nayiri, the Mamprugu Youth, and the Council of Chiefs for statements he made concerning the ongoing Bawku conflict.
During an appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Mr. Fuseini explained that his comments were made off the cuff during a broader discussion not initially centered on the Bawku situation. He clarified that his intention was not to take sides or provoke controversy, but to contribute to dialogue aimed at fostering peace.
“I had no desire to align with any group or diminish the authority of any traditional leader,” he stated. “Unfortunately, my comments were misunderstood to favor the Kusasi side, which was never my objective.”
Mr. Fuseini emphasized that he is a proud Dagomba and was surprised by the backlash labeling him as Kusasi. He expressed regret that his remarks were perceived as disrespectful or divisive.
“After reflecting deeply, I acknowledge that my words did not sit well with the people of Mamprugu. I did not intend to challenge traditional leadership or the existing peace process,” he added. “I only sought to propose ideas that could potentially contribute to long-term peace and justice in Bawku.”
He used the opportunity on Newsfile to issue a sincere public apology.
“With the utmost respect, I humbly extend an unqualified apology to the Nayiri, the youth of Mamprugu, and the Council of Chiefs. On this Holy Saturday, I ask for forgiveness from anyone I may have offended, and I pray my apology will be accepted.”
