Kasoa Tragedy: Suspect Apprehended in Fatal Shooting of Soldier at Millennium City

The suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, allegedly discharged the fatal shot at the soldier on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at approximately 4:20 pm. Following the shooting, the injured soldier was promptly transported to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for urgent medical attention. Despite the diligent efforts of medical personnel, the soldier ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Currently, Benlord Ababio is in police custody, where he is actively cooperating with authorities as the investigation unfolds. Additionally, the Ghana Police Service has initiated collaboration with the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure a coordinated effort in comprehending the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a press release signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, who serves as the Director of Public Affairs, the Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity and swiftly addressing criminal activities that pose a threat to public safety.

The apprehension of the suspect represents a significant stride towards achieving justice for the victim and his bereaved family, as well as bolstering security within the Kasoa community. The diligent efforts of law enforcement authorities in swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspect underscore their dedication to upholding law and order.
