Akufo-Addo expected in Washington as Biden hosts US-African leaders’ summit
The seat of the US Government is ready to receive about 50 African leaders to attend the Joe
Biden- administration’s first US African leaders Summit to have a crucial conservation on
health, democracy and climate as the main agenda.
Another key topic will be the fate of the African Growth and Opportunity Act, the 2000 deal that
granted duty-free access to the US market for most products from sub-Saharan nations that meet
standards on rights and democracy.
The US –Africa Leaders’ Summit will also provide heads of state the chance to discuss ways to
fortify a mutually beneficial partnership that would create jobs and encourage sustainable
growth.
In the case of case Ivory Coast, the Prime Minister Patrick Achi arrived in Washington on
December 11, 2022 to represent President Alassane Quattara. President Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo is expected to join his counterparts for the summit that is set to host about 50
African Leaders
Leaders from South Africa, Egypt, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia and other African
countries are expected to attend the summit.
