Man arrested after deadly East Sacramento shooting, chase and standoff – KCRA Sacramento

A man was arrested following a SWAT standoff in the Pocket area of Sacramento
A man was arrested following a deadly shooting that stemmed from an apparent robbery in East Sacramento on Thursday.
Officers responded to the area of the 3900 block of N Steet for the shooting that was reported around 12:35 p.m.
An elderly man was killed behind the Sutter Lawn Tennis Club, police said. It’s unknown if the victim lived in the area or was a club member.
Police later identified 23-year-old Desean Brasser Jr. as a suspect in the shooting.
He was located near Shoal Court in the Pocket area of Sacramento after a chase led to a SWAT standoff and was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide and robbery charges, police said.
Police had initially said officers had detained multiple people who were possibly armed and had evaded police inside a residential complex.
New: @SacPolice say investigators believe a robbery preceded the East Sac shooting this afternoon. No suspect information though at this point.

Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified, they say.
“It is an uncommon area to see gun violence based on the data that we have and that we track in the city. It’s not a common area that we see gun violence but we treat every homicide that happens in our city the same and they’re all investigated the same way no matter where they happen in our city,” added Zach Eaton, a sergeant with the police department.
Police said that the involved suspect or suspects had fled the area.
Steve Mannis, a three-decade resident in the neighborhood was surprised when he walked outside Thursday afternoon.
“I can’t believe it. I mean this is a very safe family neighborhood. A number of professionals live in the area that serves the community, so I would never in a million years expect anything like this to happen even though I know no neighborhood is considered safe nowadays. You gotta be careful,” Mannis said.
Sacramento police canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance video and knocked on several doors to try to speak to witnesses. They’re asking for the public’s help in this investigation.
