The Minstermen aim to pull off an Emirates FA Cup upset in the first round proper with a trip to League One Shrewsbury Town tomorrow afternoon.
A 2-1 Fourth Qualifying Round victory over Step 5 side Bury AFC saw York City progress into the first round for the second consecutive season and we were rewarded with a trip to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
The Shrews, who sit 14th in League One, enter the Emirates FA Cup in this round. Their last outing in the competition was a 4-1 third round defeat last eason at Anfield after wins against Stratford Town and Carlisle United earned them a meeting with Liverpool FC in the 2021/22 Emirates FA Cup.
‘Salop’ have a good recent record in the competition, making at least the third round stage in all of the last five years, going as far as fourth round replays against Premier League opposition twice.
However, City also have a rich history in the Emirates FA Cup which they will hope to invoke against a side who are winless in four in all competitions.

Tickets for this fixture can be bought online!
We encourage all who have purchased Shrewsbury tickets to collect from the ticket office by 5pm on Friday 4th November. After this, all remaining tickets will be returned to Shrewsbury for collection from their ticket office. To avoid queues on the day, please attend the York City Football Club ticket office prior to 5pm tomorrow.
Remaining tickets can be purchased on the day from Shrewsbury at their ticket office. Please be advised that Shrewsbury only accept cash on the day and there is no cash machine around the ground.
Once again, we advise that supporters buy and collect in advance, with online ticket sales to end at 4pm tomorrow ahead of the closing time for collections at 5pm.
Ticket prices for the game are as follows:
Adults – £15 (season ticket holder – £12)
Seniors 65+ – £12 (ST – £10)
19 to 23 – £12 (ST – £10)

Student – £12 (ST – £10)
12 to 18 – £6 (ST – £5)
Under 12 – £1 (ST – FREE) (Must be purchased with an Over 18 ticket)

There is a national train strike this Saturday.
Places on the Supporters’ Coach from our official travel provider – York Pullman – are available for £25. Under 16s can book on for £20 when accompanied by a paying adult. Pickup is 10am from Memorial Gardens in York City Centre, with Acomb collection 10 minutes later.

If you’re driving by car: At the end of the M54 continue onto the A5. After about seven miles, there is a traffic island which is at the junction with the A49. Bear left at this island still following the A5. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the B4380 (Thieves Lane). Continue along Thieves Lane going straight over two roundabouts and this will lead you into Oteley Road. You will reach the stadium down further down Oteley Road on the left.
Stadium Postcode: SY2 6ST
Parking: Parking at the Montgomery Waters Meadow is mainly by permit but there are a limited number of passes available per game from the ticket office at the Montgomery Waters Meadow. Tickets cost £10 and are available up until 12 noon on Saturdays.
Meole Brace Park and Ride – SY3 9NB

There have been more than 30 meetings between York City and Shrewsbury Town, predominantly in league football, with York having won 10 of those. City’s last win against the Shrews came in an August 2002 Division 3 game at Bootham Crescent, Peter Duffield and Jon Parkin getting the goals in a 2-1 victory. There have been three games since then, two of which came in the 2014/15 League Two season.

Last 5 Competitive:
