Medina Market Women Overwhelm Bawumia During His Condolence Visit After Fire Outbreak

Market women at Madina Central Market in Accra warmly welcomed Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during his visit on Friday morning to commiserate with them following a recent fire outbreak.

Last week, a significant portion of the market was destroyed by fire, causing substantial losses for many traders.

After discussions between the market women’s leadership and the Government, Dr. Bawumia visited the market to interact with those affected and assess the damage firsthand.

Upon his arrival, Dr. Bawumia was greeted with enthusiasm as he toured the affected areas and spoke with the market women.

In his address, Dr. Bawumia expressed sympathy for their losses and assured them of government support to help them resume business activities. He announced plans to construct a three-storey, 120-store facility to replace the damaged market. Additionally, the National Enterprises Agency, through its CEO, pledged financial assistance to help restock for those impacted by the fire.

As a show of solidarity, the NPP Flagbearer donated GH₵200,000 to support those affected by the fire outbreak.
