NDC’s Vision for National Industrial Development Expansion Gains Momentum

In a bid to decentralize industrial development and create more job opportunities, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined plans to extend industrial initiatives to various regions of the country. The Paramount Chief of Awutu Bereku, Nai Abokuadi Wyettey Agyeman Otabil III, emphasized the importance of prioritizing job creation in his community and urged NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to consider the establishment of industrial hubs in Kasoa.

Chief’s Plea for Economic Boost:
Nai Abokuadi Wyettey Agyeman Otabil III commended the success of the Kejetia Market in Kumasi and urged John Mahama to replicate such development in Bodwease, Kasoa, and Bontiase. Emphasizing Kasoa’s significance as a major food production hub, the Chief highlighted the need for a grand market structure to support the area’s contribution to the country’s food supply.

NDC’s Response and Regional Industrial Hubs:
In response to the Chief’s plea, John Mahama unveiled the NDC’s policy to establish industrial hubs in various parts of the country. He acknowledged the historical concentration of industries in specific regions, emphasizing the need to expand industrialization efforts to ensure equitable development. Mahama stressed the impracticality of centralizing all industries in one location and encouraged the exploration of available lands in communities to develop regional industrial zones.

Diversification of Industries:
Highlighting the importance of diversifying industrial sectors, Mahama outlined plans to build pharmaceutical factories, soap production facilities, vegetable cooking oil factories, and more in different regions. The aim is to boost economic growth, create job opportunities, and improve conditions in various markets across the country.

Building Ghana Tour and Future Developments:
Speaking during the ‘Building Ghana Tour,’ the former President expressed the necessity of collaboration between the government and local stakeholders to identify suitable lands for industrial development. The emphasis on creating social amenities alongside industrial zones reflects a holistic approach to community development.

As the NDC envisions a decentralized approach to industrialization, the party aims to contribute significantly to job creation, economic growth, and improved living standards in various regions of the country. The pledge to establish industrial hubs aligns with the broader goal of fostering balanced development across Ghana.
