Nollywood Actor Mr Ibu Undergoes Another Leg Amputation, Faces Speech Challenges

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has disclosed that John Okafor, the ailing Nollywood actor known as Mr Ibu, recently underwent another leg amputation and is now struggling with speech. The AGN National President, Dr. Emeka Rollas, shared this information during a conversation with the press.

Expressing concern for Mr Ibu’s health, Rollas urged for prayers and support for the veteran actor. The AGN is closely monitoring his situation, along with another veteran actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who has been hospitalized at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, Anambra State, for over two months.

Rollas described Muonagor’s condition as pitiable, stating that he is now a mere shadow of his former self. Last month, Mr Ibu’s family revealed that he underwent several surgeries, leading to the amputation of one of his legs. Plans were made to fly him abroad for further treatment.

Providing an update to Vanguard, Rollas said, “We are resigning to fate concerning the two actors. As I speak with you, Mr Ibu hardly talks again and he has undergone another leg amputation.” He emphasized the dire situation of Amaechi Muonagor and called on fans and well-wishers to join efforts with philanthropic Nigerians to support him.

Rollas approved the disbursement of N250,000 from the AGN Trust Fund to Mr Ibu’s account but acknowledged that it falls short of the needed support. He encouraged young actors to enroll in the AGN HMO and Insurance programs for their well-being.
