Winning the 2024 elections poses a significant challenge, emphasized by Senior Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo, who urged aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates to elevate their campaigns. Osafo-Maafo, also the chairman of the Akyem Oda constituency NPP election committee, stressed that filing nominations for parliamentary primaries shouldn’t mark the end of candidates’ dedication to securing legislative roles.
During the nomination filing of incumbent MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah in Oda, a vibrant procession marked the occasion. Osafo-Maafo reminded candidates that success in the upcoming general election demands united efforts from all party supporters. While commending Acquah for his developmental projects, Osafo-Maafo encouraged him to persist in providing essential amenities for the constituency.
Osafo-Maafo cautioned against arrogance, complacency, and offensive language in the campaign, emphasizing the importance of winning more voters to boost the party’s presidential votes in December 2024. Acquah, expressing gratitude for overwhelming support, pledged to increase the NPP’s presidential votes from 79% in 2020 to over 90% in the upcoming election. He affirmed his commitment to maintaining the constituency’s record of the highest votes in the Eastern Region.
The ceremony featured speeches from key figures, including Constituency NPP Secretary Ben Kuuku Baiden and Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central Victoria Adu.
