The Ghana Police Service has detained four men featured in a widely shared video making violent threats.
In an official statement released today, the police confirmed the arrests of Isaac Ampong (alias Bullet), Emmanuel Buah (alias Network), Festus Agyei, and Asaana Isaac.
The alarming video, which gained significant attention online, purportedly showed the group threatening to harm individuals they encountered at night.
Upon discovering the video, the Ghana Police Service promptly initiated an investigation, resulting in the suspects’ apprehension on July 12, 2024.
“We want to reassure the public that all suspects are now in police custody and are assisting with the investigation,” the statement read. “They will face the full process of the law.”
The police also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the emergency hotline.
In two separate, undated videos circulated on social media, an individual calling himself Kwame Tunechi uses offensive language while speaking into what appears to be his phone’s selfie camera. With two others in the background on a motorbike, he boasts of committing crimes and threatens to rob an approaching vehicle.
They are joined by a fourth individual in another video where he claims they go out ‘hunting’ while people are asleep.
In a subsequent video posted on TikTok, the group is seen apologizing and retracting their previous statements, attributing their actions to being intoxicated after a birthday party. They admitted to leaving the video online the following day, hoping it would trend and garner likes, comments, and followers on social media.
