Reduction of the Electronic Transaction Levy (e-levy)

Finance Ministry is considering the reduction of the current rate of the Electronic Transaction Levy (e-levy) further downwards.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi intimated that the levy has been reduced to 1.5%. He stated that efforts are being made to reduce it further. This action could be related to opposition from the Minority in Parliament and members of the general public that caused the government to reduce the rate.

The E-Levy has sprung political and social criticism nationwide and globally ever since it was proposed. Finally, it has come to stay with Ghanaians despite strong political oppositions.
