Shatta Wale, R2bees, and More to Headline Taste of Ghana on Dec 27

The Taste of Ghana festival is rapidly becoming one of the most anticipated events in December in Ghana, and this year’s edition promises to be a spectacular affair. Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale is set to headline a concert on Wednesday, December 27, at the Forecourt of the State House, Accra, bringing an exciting conclusion to the festivities.

Joining the My Level hitmaker on stage for captivating performances are R2Bees, EL, Adina, Fancy Gaddam, Kofi Jamal, Wendy Shay, Eno Barony, Alapta One, and others.

Before the concert, a Carols Night featuring Samini and Joyful Way Incorporated will take place, featuring fashion shows by six designers. The event will also serve as a platform for Ghanaians, the diaspora, and tourists to connect and explore various commercial and investment opportunities in the country.

Beyond musical performances, the festival will showcase a masquerade procession, dance performances, and art exhibitions to add layers of cultural richness to the event. Local vendors will offer traditional Ghanaian dishes and products.

Taste of Ghana, initiated in 2020 as a signature Christmas program by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), receives support from the Beyond the Return Secretariat (BTR) and the Ministry of Information.

The theme for this year’s event is “GH: The Africa Dream,” aiming to showcase Ghana’s authentic heritage through music, food, arts, and culture. The festival aligns with efforts to engage the diaspora community, promote investments through entertainment, tourism, and culture.

Yofi Grant, CEO of the GIPC, emphasized that Taste of Ghana provides an opportunity for investors to connect with local business partners, explore investment opportunities, and celebrate Ghana’s rich heritage.

Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of GTA, highlighted the event’s role in promoting tourism in Ghana, showcasing its diverse attractions, and aligning with the government’s vision to position Ghana as a top tourist destination in Africa.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Charles Opoku-Mensah, Head of PR and Communications of GIPC, mentioned that though admission is free, patrons need to dial 71111*20# for tickets to capture data for future engagement. Opoku-Mensah added that Taste of Ghana has proven to be a successful strategy for attracting investors and fostering investment in various sectors. Last year, the festival drew 9,000 attendees, and this year’s event has already seen 15,000 tickets secured, with more expected.
