NFL Week 5 begins with a Thursday Night Football matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, and there is very little separating the two squads. There are plenty of player prop betting markets for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, but his status for the matchup is up in the air due to a high ankle sprain.
However, our experts have another player worth targeting in this matchup, so let’s dive into their favorite Thursday Night Football prediction with odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Colts and Broncos face off in NFL Week 5 for Thursday Night Football, and based on the game total, it will likely be a low-scoring, tightly contested affair. Both teams are coming off ugly losses, as the Colts fell 24-17 to the Tennessee Titans, and the Broncos lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 32-23.

Indianapolis has not lived up to preseason expectations, and they are currently 1-2-1 with losses to the Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. They need a big win to help turn their season around, and a road win in Denver would do just that. The Denver Broncos offense has been their biggest issue, and they are 30th in the NFL in total scoring. QB Russell Wilson hasn’t looked like his former self, and we predict he will struggle against the Colts defense.
Our experts didn’t target the point spread or game total for their favorite Thursday Night Football prediction, but they love a player prop for the matchup. Let’s dive into their pick with odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Broncos fans will bring everything to Thursday’s game against the Colts, which could cause sound issues for QB Matt Ryan. This will likely lead to him getting rid of the ball quickly instead of holding onto the football, and hit receivers underneath. Mo Alie-Cox can help Ryan in this regard, and he’s seen his snap percentage increase week after week this season.
Alie-Cox’s snap rate was 70% against the Titans, and he ran the third most routes and was tied for the most targets. He even led the team in receptions (six) and yards (85) against Tennessee and has the third most air yards for the Colts in the last two games.
The Broncos have allowed at least 24 yards to tight ends in every game this season and give up 8.95 yards per reception. We predict Mo Alie-Cox can record two to three catches, which should lead to him recording over 17.5 receiving yards.
The Indianapolis Colts are +3.5 underdogs on the point spread with -120 odds, while the Denver Broncos are -3.5 favorites and carry +100 odds. A $12 bet on the Colts +3.5 returns $10 of winnings if they pull off an upset or lose by three or fewer. A $10 wager on the Broncos -3.5 profits $10 if they win by four points or more. The game total (over/under) is 42.5, and both sides of the total have -110 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Our experts don’t have an official pick against the spread for Thursday Night Football, but they lean towards the Colts +3.5. Indianapolis is coming off an ugly loss to the Titans primarily due to three turnovers, and we think their defense can frustrate Broncos QB Russell Wilson. Indy is 9-0-1 when holding their opponent to 20 points or less, and we expect them to pull off an upset if the Broncos offense doesn’t come ready to play.
Multiple players didn’t practice on Tuesday for the Colts or Broncos. Some notable names that were absent include the Colts FS Julian Blackmon, OLB Shaquille Leonard, DE Tyquan Lewis and RB Jonathan Taylor. Leonard and Lewis have already been ruled out for the game, while Taylor and Blackmon are battling ankle injuries.
For Denver, LB Jonathon Cooper, DB P.J. Locke, G Quinn Meinerz and LB Aaron Patrick all missed Tuesday’s practice, but the biggest absentee was RB Javonte Williams. The second-year RB suffered a torn ACL and LCL against the Raiders this past weekend and will miss the rest of the season. Williams was an important player in the Broncos offense, so it will be interesting to see how they respond without him.
