Graham Potter is ‘crazy’ about Harry Kane and Chelsea plan to tempt Tottenham with a player-plus-cash deal. Also: Brendan Rodgers is too expensive to axe…
CHELSEA TO OFFER LUKAKU AND CASH FOR KANE
Graham Potter wants Harry Kane at Chelsea, apparently. Aye, he probably does. But we don’t fancy his chances.
According to Calciomercato, the new Blues boss ‘crazy likes’ Kane and wants his board to attempt to land the England striker at the end of the season.
The plan to tempt Tottenham involves Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan. Antonio Conte is one of the few managers to have got the very best out of the Belgium striker before he became Chelsea’s record signing last year.
Along with Lukaku, Chelsea would also include a hefty cash sum in any offer, which seems doomed to fail, no matter much Potter fancies Kane. Fabio Capello loves him too.

LEICESTER CAN’T AFFORD TO AXE RODGERS
With the international break now upon us, it’s squeaky-bum time for managers who have endured poor starts to the season.
The obvious head on the chopping block would belong to Brendan Rodgers. Leicester have yet to win while propping up the Premier League table.
But Rodgers could be saved by his contract. The Sun says Leicester can’t afford the £10million they would need to pay off the former Liverpool and Celtic boss.
Apparently, only Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte currently earn more than Rodgers, who still has three years remaining on his deal at the King Power Stadium.
Should they opt to remove Rodgers, Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the name at the top of their managerial wish-list, but the Dane has only recently signed a new contract with the Bees. Sean Dyche would also be in contention, with the former Burnley boss currently out of work.
ATELTICO EYE PREM TRIO
Atletico Madrid’s Premier League scout is a busy bee this season while Diego Simeone is looking to add a versatile attacker to his ranks.
Fichajes says Atletico are looking at three forwards who are all out of contract next summer. The targets: Leandro Trossard, Marcus Rashford and Roberto Firmino.
Rashford’s contract is indeed due to expire but Manchester United retain the option to extend it for a further 12 months, which they are sure to do. Liverpool also want Firmino to renew his deal, while Trossard is said to be ‘ready to make the leap to a more important team’ when his Brighton contract ends.
