Vanderbilt basketball will see a familiar face in Friday’s game against Southern Miss. Guard Austin Crowley was once committed to the Commodores (0-1), but decommitted after Bryce Drew was fired, flipping to Ole Miss. He averaged 3.4 points per game in three seasons with the Rebels before transferring to Southern Miss (1-0) in the offseason.
Vanderbilt will be the first Division I matchup for the Golden Eagles this season; they won their first game against NAIA William Carey. The Commodores lost their opener to Memphis by a score of 76-67.
Southern Miss finished 7-26 last season and won just one Conference USA game. Now in the Sun Belt, the Golden Eagles are ranked No. 321 on KenPom, while Vanderbilt is ranked No. 74.
