WAEC Releases G/ABCE Provisional Results and Warns Against Fraudulent Activities

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2023 General and Advanced Business Certificate Examination (G/ABCE). However, in a cautionary statement signed by Head of Public Affairs John K. Kapi, WAEC is urging the public to be vigilant against fraudsters who may offer to alter results for a fee.

The statement emphasizes that WAEC results are secure and cannot be tampered with, and candidates are encouraged to authenticate their results using the results verification system or by downloading the WAEC QR Code. WAEC warns against falling victim to individuals promising result upgrades, as there is no access to the WAEC database for such alterations.

In terms of statistics, a total of 163 candidates participated in the Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE), while 173 candidates sat for the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE). Five candidates who were found with mobile phones in the examination hall have had their results withheld pending further investigation.

Candidates are advised to visit the council’s official website (www.waecgh.org) to access their results. The statement expresses gratitude to various stakeholders, including school heads, the Ghana Police Service, supervisors, invigilators, and examiners for their support and cooperation during the examination process.

Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey, Head of the Ghana National Office of WAEC, provided additional information on the examination. Holders of the GBCE results are qualified for admission into level 100 at any tertiary institution in the country. For ABCE results, candidates can enter tertiary institutions at level 200. All tertiary institutions are mandated to accept G/ABCE qualifications as entry requirements, as approved by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Mrs. Addy-Lamptey reassures institutions that G/ABCE certificates are authentic and can be equated with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). She urges tertiary institutions not to doubt the equivalence of G/ABCE certificates and qualifications.
