Breaking: Michael K. Williams found dead inside Apartment in NY age 54



“The Wire’’ actor Michael K. Williams was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Williams, 54, was discovered unconscious in the dining room of his luxury Williamsburg pad with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table, sources said.

His death is being investigated as a possible drug overdose, the Associated Press reports, citing the New York Police Department (NYPD).

“It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy-nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this insurmountable loss,” his longtime rep, Marianna Shafran of Shafran PR, said.

The frequent HBO star also played racketeer Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire from 2010-2014 and the inmate Freddy Knight on the 2016 miniseries The Night

“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Michael Kenneth Williams, a member of the HBO family for more than 20 years,” a statement from the network said. “While the world is aware of his immense talents as an artist, we knew Michael as a dear friend who was beloved by all who had the privilege to work with him. We send our deepest condolences to his family for this immeasurable loss.”

Residents of Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the VoltaRegion took to the Street to agitate and register their displeasure and concern over the long duration for the closure of the AflaoBorder .

The protest was organized by the residents of Alfao together with other communities in the Aflao enclave . 

The closure of the Border was part of Government’s initiative to curb the Covid – 19 pandemic .

In March 2020 the President announced the closure of all Borders , both by  land and Sea. Because it is an avenue where the virus easily spread . 

Security at the Border was tightened to reduce movement of persons and goods across . 

As part of the President’s weekly update on the Covid-19 virus,the restrictions on borders was eased  to allow only movement of goods and other commercial commodities , denying movement of humans  across the border line .

All these and several others are factors that have culminated into the 27th August , 2021 demonstration by residents along the Aflao border to protest against it’s closure .

Clads in red clothes and banners ,  holding placards with many inscriptions ; NANA WE ARE SUFFERING , OUR BUSINESSES HAVE COLLAPSED , WE ARE HUNGRY , OUR BORDER MUST BE OPENED NOW . 

These and many other inscriptions signifying their frustrations and the hardship over the closure of the border .

The convenor of the protest, Bright Dzilah who lead them to the office of the Municipal Chief Executive of  Ketu South to submit their petition and grievances in a three paged document.

Addressing the media , Bright Dzilah noted that the people and residents around the Aflao enclave are suffering and cannot hold on again to this dissatisfied situation .

He is therefore calling on the Municipal Assembly and the immigration to as matter of urgency open the border for them. 

To them , the closure of the border within the past one year has brought hardship and made life unbearable .

All their activities have ceased and children can no longer go to school.

Speaking to some other residents in the area who couldn’t join the demonstration due to their business activities ,  Perfect Fiameku an electronic parts dealer said the closure of the border has greatly affected his business bringing his daily sales barely to zero pesewas a day.

Another trader by name Douglas Tenyo also highlighted the negative impact of the closure of the border on his business asan importer .

Responding to all these concerns , the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ketu South Municipality , Elliot Agbnorwustressed that the Akufo Addo administration is not happy over the closure of the border but for the good and welbeing of all.

He entreated the residents to calm down as measures will be put in place by the Coordinating Council to deal with the situation .

He continued to plead with the people to wash their hands and wear the mask as a way of curbing the virus . 

Meanwhile the sector Commander of the Ghana immigration Service at the Aflao border , C/Supt Frederick Baah Duodu said the closing of the border is in the interest of all so residents should try and contain it .

He made known that for now only goods and other commodities are allowed to cross the border with strict adherence to the Covid – 19 directives. 

He urged the protesters to remain calm as their grievances will be made known to the leadership .

He said as and when they get feedback on reopening of the border it  will be communicated to them in due course .

Crime & Punishment




A forty (40) year old man by name Richard Oppong has been spotted dead in a pool of blood in his own vicinity at  GomoaFeteh Kakraba in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

According to residents nearby, in the lifeless body of the deceased was found in the early hours of 26th August, 2021.

Richard Oppong as known by the people is a mason by profession, married with two children and very hard-working. He sometimes works outside the area because of the nature of the construction business . 

Police checks and residents’ speculations suggests that Richard may have been killed by some unknown assailant who perhapsmay be from the area.

A resident by name Moahammed Iddrisu  bemoaned that  He  heard some noise of people screaming and shouting at dawn but was afraid to turn up because it was dangerous at that hour of the day ,only to wake up the next day to see his close neighbourmurdered in a pool of blood. 

Other residents in the Gomoa Feteh Kakraba area also lamented on the sad incident that had happened to their compatriot and called for intensive Police and Military patrol in the area .

The Awutu Breku Police Commander Joshua Semanyo told the media present and the people of Feteh Kakraba that the body has been conveyed and deposited at the Morgue and investigation had began . 

He appealed to the people near and afar to voluntarily assist the Police in providing any useful information available to the Police in order to accelerate the investigation process.

He assured the family and residents that the person who is solidly behind this grusome murder will be fished out and made to face the full vigrous of the law .

The National Chief Imam , Dr. Sheik Osman Nuhu Shaributuhas donated an amount of GH50,000 to the National Cathedral Trust fund. 

His donation comes after the Vice President Dr. AlhajiMahmmud Bawumia’s call on all well meaning Ghanaians to support and help build the Cathedral which forms part of the NPP agenda in securing a monumental place of worship for the Christians.

The facility when completed will also serve as a venue where any National activities could be held .

He made the donation when the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral paid a courtesy call on him to find out his health and wished him long life . 

Sheik Aremeyaw Shaibu ,

the spokesperson of the National Chief Imam ,  made it known that the Chief Imam is very happy about the commencement of this Project and what he can do is to pay his quota to help make such a project come to reality .

He said the Chief Imam  is optimistic that when such a project is completed it will go a long way to solve the problem of getting a suitable venue to host National programmes which most times is costly to host elsewhere. 

He emphasized that Ghana is a country in which both Islam and Christian worshippers are friends and each others keeper despite difference in beliefs and ideology. 

For the past decades we have lived together as brothers and Sisters , and we will continue to live in peace and harmony for the benefit of mankind.

Board Chairman of the National Cathedral Trust fund Apostle Dr. OPoku Onyina thanked the Chief Imam and his noble Office for the benevolent gesture to  Christendom as he officiallyaccepted his contribution towards the project.

To him , the venue can serve as a tourist site  where the country can earn income from.

According to the Contractor it is one of the largest and the biggest Cathedrals anywhere in the World.

He made it known that if we get one million ( 1,000,000) Ghanaians who will be willing to provide GH100.00 each the National Cathedral could be built in no time.

He entreated all well meaning Ghanaians , philanthropists , Corporate Organizations , CSOs to come on board to make theNational Cathedral a reality.
