Despite a warning from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the Head Pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has made predictions of a total power shutdown in 2024. He urged all stakeholders in the energy sector to be vigilant, foreseeing a more severe crisis than the previous power outages in Ghana. This proclamation was made during a December 2023 Watchnight Service, challenging the cautionary statement by IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who had advised religious leaders against spreading prophecies that could induce fear and panic.
The IGP emphasized the need for individuals to exercise their freedom of speech and practice their faith responsibly, considering the impact on the rights and freedoms of others. However, despite these warnings, other religious leaders continued to make predictions for the upcoming year.
Archbishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, the Founder and leader of the Alive Chapel International, also shared prophecies during his sermon. He foresaw a turbulent 2024 election, including the possibility of a run-off, along with the unfortunate deaths of four leaders and four pastors.
In a different prediction, Nigel Gaise, the Founder of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, declared the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the winner of the 2024 general election. He urged NDC supporters to remain vigilant. It’s important to note that these pastors have been associated with controversial prophecies in the past, and their predictions have often failed to materialize.
These recent prophecies, despite skepticism and previous inaccuracies, continue to capture public attention and raise questions about the role of religious leaders in making predictions that can influence public sentiment.\
