Kwahu Mpraeso, Ghana – April 19, 2025
Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has revealed that the government is preparing to initiate discussions with transport unions regarding a potential reduction in lorry fares, as fuel prices continue to decline.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Kwahu Business Forum, Mr. Nyarko noted that the proposed dialogue is part of broader efforts aimed at easing the cost of living and further reducing inflation rates.
“The government remains committed to lowering inflation. We’re already seeing progress, and with upcoming data, we expect even better figures,” he remarked.
“Fuel prices have started to decline. In the coming weeks, we plan to meet with transport operators to discuss the possibility of reducing fares. These measures, combined, will ease inflationary pressures and benefit the country at large,” Mr. Nyarko explained.
A Unified Effort for Economic Growth
Mr. Nyarko also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in driving national development. He praised the Kwahu Business Forum for creating a platform that brings together key stakeholders, including government officials, the private sector, and political leaders.
“The participation of the Minority Leader and various stakeholders reflects our inclusive approach. It shows the government’s dedication to working with all parties to drive sustainable growth,” he said.
