Hiplife artiste Prince Bright of Bukbak fame has revealed that he was grief-stricken and nearly lost his life following the sudden death of his friend and music partner on November 21, 2013.

Speaking on E-Vibes USA Series with Becky and reported by myjoyonline.com, Prince Bright said he is yet to recover from the loss almost a decade since the unfortunate incident happened.

Treat tuberculosis as you treat HIV/AIDS – Nabdam MP urges government

“Ronnie’s demise hit me pretty hard. I wasn’t missing him much when he was in Ghana and I know he could just fly over anytime and come hang out with me. His demise hit me so hard in the sense that this person will not be able to wear the size 30s I will get him in the shops.

“He will not be able to eat with me when I want him to. He will not be the fatherly figure he has always been for me. My daily routine revolves around Ronnie. Losing him, I will say I lost my mind, I went really crazy.

“I literally lost my mind because this was somebody who has been there for me when nobody was. Ronni leaving me was a big blow to me. I don’t think I have been able to get myself back yet,” he said.

This is not the first time Prince Bight has lamented about the devastating effect Ronnie’s death had on him.

In 2021, Prince Bright mentioned in an interview with Ghana Weekend that he suffered depression after Ronnie’s death.

“I loved him to death, I wish we had more time together cos we were about to change the face of Ghana music forever but I thank God for the sharp minds we have in the industry right now”, he is quoted to have said.

Ronnie Coaches and Prince Bright formed the popular Hiplife group Buk Bak in the 90s. The duo made remarkable progress on the music scene with hit songs such as ‘Klu Brofo’, ‘Akwasi Broni’ and ‘Kolom’.

They split up but eventually came together in 2010 but their dreams of bouncing back strongly were short-lived when on November 21, 2013, Ronny Coaches died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The remains of the musician, also known in real life as Ronnie Nii Quarshikumah Quainoo, were laid to rest on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Osu Cemetery.
