FICTION NOTICE: This is an original fictional entertainment story in the McPerry Films “Untrue Stories” collection. Characters, institutions and events are invented. It is not a factual news investigation.
Three buyers claim the same family home, but only one deed can be genuine.
The message
When Esi returns to her childhood home in Cape Coast, she finds a new padlock on the gate and a painted sign announcing a property development. The caretaker insists her uncle sold the land.
A troubling discovery
Her uncle denies signing anything. A second buyer appears with another deed, while a third has already paid workers to demolish the back wall. Esi starts collecting copies of the documents rather than confronting anyone.
The trail
A retired surveyor notices that all three plans use an old boundary marker removed years earlier. The witnesses on two documents share the same telephone number, and the stamp on the third belongs to an office that had already moved.
The cliffhanger
At the registry, Esi discovers a fourth file: a transfer prepared in her own name. It carries tomorrow’s date and a signature she has never written.
Previously unseen questions
Who is telling the truth? Which clue has been deliberately left behind? The next chapter follows the consequences of this discovery.
McPerry Films production note: This story is suitable for adaptation into a short scripted film. All persons and incidents are fictional.
