FICTION NOTICE: This is an original fictional entertainment story in the McPerry Films “Untrue Stories” collection. Characters, institutions and events are invented. It is not a factual news investigation.
A rising singer hears her unreleased chorus on someone else’s chart-topping song.
The message
Singer Efua records a demo at a small studio and leaves with a rough mix. Months later, a famous performer releases a song containing her distinctive chorus.
A troubling discovery
Her producer says the melody is common. Efua gathers dated session files, messages and a notebook showing how the song developed. She avoids public accusations while seeking advice about authorship and ownership.
The trail
An engineer offers to help, but his copy of the session contains an extra vocal take that Efua does not remember recording. The studio’s backup drive was supposedly destroyed in a flood.
The cliffhanger
Efua receives a link to a private rehearsal video. In the background, someone is holding her notebook.
Previously unseen questions
Who is telling the truth? Which clue has been deliberately left behind? The next chapter follows the consequences of this discovery.
