FICTION NOTICE: This is an original fictional entertainment story in the McPerry Films “Untrue Stories” collection. Characters, institutions and events are invented. It is not a factual news investigation.

A student discovers that scholarship winners were selected before applications opened.

The message

Yaw works at a community print shop and helps classmates submit scholarship forms. A draft winners’ list accidentally arrives in the shop’s shared inbox.

A troubling discovery

The document appears to predate the official application period. Yaw initially suspects a clerical mistake, so he checks the timestamps and asks the programme office for clarification.

The trail

A staff member explains that the list may be a test file, but Yaw notices that several names correspond to real applicants. He shares the concern privately with an independent oversight committee.

The cliffhanger

The committee requests the original file. Before Yaw can send it, a second list arrives—with his own name marked “disqualified.”

Previously unseen questions

Who is telling the truth? Which clue has been deliberately left behind? The next chapter follows the consequences of this discovery.

McPerry Films production note: This story is suitable for adaptation into a short scripted film. All persons and incidents are fictional.
