FICTION NOTICE: This is an original fictional entertainment story in the McPerry Films “Untrue Stories” collection. Characters, institutions and events are invented. It is not a factual news investigation.
A school caretaker hears lessons taking place in a room closed for years.
The message
During evening rounds, caretaker Mensima hears children reciting multiplication tables behind a classroom door that has been locked since a fire.
A troubling discovery
She reports it to the headteacher, who finds no signs of entry. The next night, Mensima records the sound and notices that the recitation includes the name of a pupil who transferred away years ago.
The trail
An old attendance register reveals that the room once hosted a special tutoring programme. The former teacher left abruptly after a disagreement over missing examination papers.
The cliffhanger
Inside a cupboard in the reopened room, Mensima finds a fresh attendance sheet dated tomorrow.
Previously unseen questions
Who is telling the truth? Which clue has been deliberately left behind? The next chapter follows the consequences of this discovery.
McPerry Films production note: This story is suitable for adaptation into a short scripted film. All persons and incidents are fictional.
