Ghana’s representative at the 2026 Miss World Festival, Rumzia Sule, is increasingly becoming one of the African contestants to watch as the global pageant reaches its decisive stage in Vietnam.
The reigning Miss Ghana has combined pageantry with advocacy, cultural representation and youth empowerment, giving her campaign a purpose that goes beyond the competition for the crown. The official Miss World profile describes Sule as a flight attendant, communications professional and MBA student with interests in diplomacy, leadership and cultural exchange.
From Miss Ghana to the World Stage
Sule, who represents Ghana’s North East Region, won the Miss Ghana 2026 crown on July 19 after competing against 12 other finalists. Her victory earned her the opportunity to represent the country at the 73rd Miss World competition in Vietnam.
Her background in public relations and international relations has helped shape the message she is carrying to the international stage.
Sule has said she wants Ghana to be recognised not only for its tourism and cultural heritage but also for the achievements of its young people, entrepreneurs, creatives, innovators and peacebuilders.
Strong Showing in Vietnam
Sule’s campaign has already produced a significant achievement.
She was selected among Africa’s Top 6 Beauty With a Purpose finalists through her environmental initiative, The Green Gateway. The project promotes environmental responsibility through activities including clean-up exercises, tree planting and youth education.
That recognition is particularly important because Beauty With a Purpose is one of the defining elements of the Miss World competition, putting social impact alongside beauty and presentation.
Ghanaian Culture Takes Centre Stage
Sule also attracted attention during the Dances of the World event in Nha Trang.
On September 2, she performed in Ghana’s national costume before an audience reported to be more than 10,000 people. Miss World highlighted her appearance as she showcased Ghanaian culture and performed to rhythms from her homeland.
The appearance gave Sule another opportunity to promote Ghana on an international platform while competing alongside contestants from around the world.
Her Message Goes Beyond the Crown
Sule’s advocacy is closely connected to youth development.
Through Project Inspire Ghana, she mentors young people and promotes entrepreneurship. Her stated ambition is eventually to become an ambassador, using diplomacy and advocacy to create opportunities and encourage communities.
Her personal motto is:
“The best and easiest way to learn is to learn from each other.”
That philosophy has become part of the broader message behind her Miss World campaign.
Jackie Appiah Joins the Support
Support for Sule has also grown beyond the pageant organisation.
Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah announced that she was travelling to Vietnam to support the Ghanaian queen ahead of the Miss World finale. She also encouraged Ghanaians to support Sule during the voting process.
The development has added further attention to Ghana’s campaign as the competition enters its final stage.
Ghana Waits for the Final Result
Sule is now looking to convert her strong performances and Beauty With a Purpose recognition into a place among the leading contestants.
The official Miss World voting platform currently lists Ghana’s Rumzia Sule among the participating candidates, while the competition’s official programme has brought together more than 100 national representatives in Vietnam.
For Ghana, however, Sule’s journey is already about more than whether she takes the crown.
From environmental advocacy to youth empowerment and cultural diplomacy, the 2026 Miss Ghana has used the international stage to present a broader image of Ghana—and her performances in Vietnam have ensured that the country’s flag remains firmly in the spotlight.
