Ghana’s Independence Day will be celebrated in a different way when these two boxers meet to showcase what they have for their fans at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on the ‘Rumble To Freedom’ bill.
It is between two popular boxers in Ga Mashie – George Ashie ‘The Red Tiger’ versus Robert Quaye ‘The Stopper’ with the IBF Continental Africa Junior Welterweight title and a motorbike from Somoco Ghana Ltd at stake.
The big fight is under the promotion of Box Office Sports Promotions in collaboration with Probellum based in the UAE who organized a press briefing on the bill on February 14 at the arena.
Former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa lightweight champion, Robert ‘Stopper’ Quaye, has predicted a seventh-round knockout against George ‘Red Tiger’ Ashie when they slug it out in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super lightweight championship.
Quaye, who is undefeated in 20 professional bouts, said he was ready to retire Ashie during their ‘Rumble for Freedom’ bout on Independence Day.
The duo would have the bragging rights to fight for when they clash in an all-Bukom affair at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra in a fight being promoted by the Box Office Sports Promotions.
Quaye told Graphic Sports in an interview that it would be an emotional night for him, having sought an opportunity to fight Ashie for years.
“I can confidently tell you that he cannot go past seven rounds because he doesn’t have the strength to fight me.
According to Quaye, Ashie is past his prime and he is ready to retire from the sport with an emphatic win on the night.
The two fighters are looking to use the bout to enter the world ratings before the IBF announces its rankings later this month.
Quaye is seeking to make a statement with a big win over Ashie as the bout promises to attract hundreds of spectators to the Bukom Boxing Arena.
When asked if Ashie was a threat to his professional record, Quaye insisted that it would take something extraordinary for his opponent to register a win over him.
“He can’t beat me because he will need something extraordinary to do that which I don’t see in him now that his career is over,” he added.
But George Ashie, who has really prepared says he has something that he will drop on the fight night.
Who wins.. Another big fight by Box Office and Probellum Boxing Promotions. All roads lead to the Bukom Boxing Arena on 6th March 2022. Never Miss.
