FICTION NOTICE: This is an original fictional entertainment story in the McPerry Films “Untrue Stories” collection. Characters, institutions and events are invented. It is not a factual news investigation.
An empty fishing canoe returns to shore with its engine still warm.
The message
At dawn, a canoe drifts into a coastal village. Its nets are full, its fuel tank is nearly full, but the three crew members are missing.
A troubling discovery
Young mechanic Sena discovers that the boat’s navigation device contains a route ending far from the usual fishing grounds. An elder says the crew had been investigating unexplained lights offshore.
The trail
Sena and the missing captain’s sister compare tide records with the device’s timestamps. The final recorded position appears on land, not water.
The cliffhanger
That night, the missing captain’s radio crackles to life in Sena’s workshop. A voice says, “Do not follow the lights.”
Previously unseen questions
Who is telling the truth? Which clue has been deliberately left behind? The next chapter follows the consequences of this discovery.
McPerry Films production note: This story is suitable for adaptation into a short scripted film. All persons and incidents are fictional.
