Sulley Aliu Muntari

Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) held the 2022 edition of the Presidents’ Cup on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium between Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Sulley Muntari Dominated the Midfield Against Asante Kotoko.

The game was a competitive one as both sides played out their best. Many fans and critiques perceived on social media that Sulley Muntari wouldn’t perform well due to his age difference.

However, the talented left-footed player proved otherwise. He played creditably well and contributed to the wear and tear down of the Porcupine Warriors.

He was seen in the game doing a lot of movement and tackles. His passes were accurate and effective throughout his period of play.

He missed narrow chances to score on three occasions and kicked almost 90 per cent of all awarded kicks for Heart of Oak.

Muntari had a great game until the 78th minute. Gladson Awako came on and played an influencing role in getting the winning goal.

The Presidents’ Cup scoreline was 2-1 in favour of Accra Hearts of Oak. Afriyie Banie opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a directed shot to post. The opportunity came through a corner kick crossing by Obeng Junior.

In the 75th minute, a defensive blunder resulted in recording the equaliser by Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Substitute, Samuel Obeng seized the ball and converted it into the post.

Similarly, Asante Kotoko also conducted a blunder while on the attack. The painful counterattack punished Kumase Asante Kotoko late into the game. Substitute Patrick Razak scored the winning goal.
